O.W.L Presentation

Last week, we were fortunate enough to have O.W.L (http://www.owlcanada.org/) come to us with a wonderfully informative presentation!  The students were so focused and engaged.  It was a fantastic way to extend upon the learning we've been doing in class about nature and wildlife!

A Golden Eagle photo and a Golden Eagle egg.

Adult Great Horned Owl and baby Great Horned Owls.

A sample of fluffy baby owl down.

Discussion about the different characteristics
of an eagle feather.

A demonstration about just how big an eagle wing is!

Close up look at an eagle foot and talons.

Katie, the American Kestrel

Learning about how to identify falcons from other birds,
and how to keep birds around us safe.

Alba, the Barn Owl.
We were able to observe her spreading her wings and showing off
her beautiful feathers.  We also learned how to identify barn owls from others.
